Changing Perceptions Counseling Trauma-Informed Counseling

Description

Trauma-Informed Therapy is a gentle, empowering, and highly specialized space for healing deep-seated wounds. It is a sensitive therapeutic process where you collaborate with a licensed therapist to address the lingering effects of past traumatic events, whether they are from childhood, a specific incident, or chronic exposure to stress. Whether you are navigating PTSD, complex trauma, or simply feeling stuck in fight-or-flight mode, this service offers a paced and safe environment designed to help you integrate painful experiences without being overwhelmed by them.

In trauma therapy, the focus is on safety first. Your therapist will help you understand how trauma impacts your brain and body, guiding you to re-establish a sense of security and control. The goal is not just to recount the past, but to heal the nervous system, release the emotional weight of what happened, and move toward a future where you are defined by your resilience rather than your history.

What We Offer

  • Safety & Stabilization: Establish physical and emotional safety before deep processing, without moving too far too fast.

  • Confidential & Validating Space: A non-judgmental environment where experiences are believed and reactions are understood.

  • Evidence-Based Modalities: EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, Somatic Experiencing, CPT for PTSD, and Internal Family Systems.

  • Nervous System Regulation: Recognize and soothe fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses with grounding and mindfulness.

  • Integration & Meaning Making: Process fragmented memories and integrate the past without letting it dominate the present.

  • Restoring Trust: Rebuild trust in yourself and others while fostering healthier boundaries and relationships.

Who It’s For

Trauma-Informed Therapy is ideal for anyone who:

  • Experiences flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts about past events.
  • Feels constantly on edge, jumpy, or unable to relax.
  • Feels emotionally numb or disconnected from their body.
  • Struggles with memories of childhood abuse, neglect, or domestic violence.
  • Has experienced an accident, assault, or natural disaster.
  • Notices past wounds impacting current relationships or work.
  • Is looking to move beyond surviving and start thriving.
